Dear Friends!

Folk Group “Dolina” in cooperation with The Russian Center of San Francisco is happy to announce an interactive lecture-performance of a famous ethno-culturologist and anthropologist Andrey Borovsky.

Andrey is most famous as an educator and author of art-therapy masterclasses for kids, where he focuses on the Russian culture and tradition. He is also one of the world’s best experts in the Russian village culture, a well-known collector, researcher and historian of traditional Russian costumes.

Andrey is coming to California for the first time and is bringing his collection of authentic village costumes of the 19th century. He will show a unique, most complete, most festive costume of a newly married woman, and will walk us through the beliefs of a young woman from 200 years ago. And Folk Group Dolina will perform several songs, that women sang during the most meaningful moments of their lives.

This is not a podium show, not a lecture or a museum demonstration – it’s an ongoing research or a quest. It is not just the look at the clothing, but a search for identity archetypes reflected in clothing.

Please come and listen to all the wonderful stories collected in expeditions to the Russian villages.
Come and ask all your questions!

This is a free event. Donations are welcome and appreciated!
